I was reading the latest posting on an online forum and I came across the following line:
“… you should be prompted to enter your serial number, do so and Vwalla, magic!”
The first thing I thought was who would spell it that way? (I assume the poster meant voilà). My second thought was why not? That is, in fact, exactly how it sounds.
A little Google-ing found plenty of other web pages that make use of the non-word vwalla in place of the French word voilà. A little more searching found a couple people who used the phrase “taken for granite.”
Looking intelligent is tough work. Have you seen any other similar mistakes?
